Elsa Nilsson Solo

DSC_9737.jpg

Swedish/American Flutist, composer and activist Elsa Nilsson has been making music in New York City since 2010. Nilsson teaches privately and as adjunct faculty at The New School and is the winner of the National Flute Association 2018 Jazz flute competition. She has released three albums as a leader, most recently a quartet album titled “Hindsight” that is a musical response to societal and cultural events in the wake of the 2016 Presidential Election. Nilsson’s solo performances are a journey through continuously unfolding sounds and textures where the bass, alto and C flutes build unexpected storylines for the listener to travel. Her use of electronics and extended flute techniques expands the sonic palette of her instrument to create a musical backdrop for your mind to fill with whatever it needs to see.
