Soapbox is excited to present a brand new series; ‘Couples in Harmony’. A collection of short conversations and concerts, concerning the issues of our time. ‘Couples in Harmony’ will explore the lives of working coupled musicians in lockdown, how they cope and how they manage to remain focused, disciplined, and find the space in their homes and hearts to continue their creative paths forward. (Interviews with Tracey Yarad)

 Grammy® nominated songwriter and record producer Tor Hyams and singer-songwriter Lisa St. Lou, are a writing team hailing from Red Hook, Brooklyn, who have performed together all over the world, but most recently, in their living room.  

They began collaborating in 2012 and have amassed 5 television pilots, a song-cycle called Stealing Time, and over 7 full-length musicals including Green Acres, based on the legendary television show, Howie D.: Back In The Day, a collaboration with Backstreet Boy Howie D., and an original play called Senior Living, which is slated to have it’s world premiere at Portland Stage in January, 2021. 

Their one-woman event, LIFE. Who Knew?, based on Lisa’s former life as a Stepford wife, has played to sold-out audiences across the country, including New York’s 54 Below, and Joe’s Pub, Los Angeles’ Rockwell, the Gaslight Cabaret Festival in St. Louis as well as The Bataleur in La Rochelle, France.In 2017, the duo wrote and recorded St. Lou’s debut soul album Ain’t No Good Man at The Parlor in New Orleans which includes Ivan Neville on organ and keys, Ian Neville on guitar, and duets with famed godfather of funk Cyril Neville and New Orleans’ Queen of Soul, Ms. Irma Thomas and is scheduled to be released sometime in 2020 via Seguaro Road Records. In addition, they finished writing St. Lou’s sophomore album titled Dancing Shoes while in lockdown in Red Hook. 

Tor and Lisa have participated in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and were selected twice as residents for the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Opera House. Collectively, the duo have won several awards, most notably Tor’s Grammy® nomination.
